Coach Courtney empowers women at risk for diabetes to take charge of their health, lose weight and reclaim energy. After nearly twenty years as a nurse in academic medical centers she discovered that symptoms of excess weight, low energy, sugar cravings and mental fog are NOT normal parts of aging. She believes there is a better way to live life. Courtney lives with her husband and 2 kids in Lees Summit, MO.
Ever since high school I can remember eating horribly. I ate very few vegetables and if there was a tray of brownies I wouldn’t eat just 1, I would eat 5 or more. My regular lunch was fried cheese sticks and cookies, after which I would experience abdominal discomfort and embarrassing gastric noises in the class that followed. I was the “lucky” individual to be inhabiting a body that hid the evidence of my poor choices. On the outside I appeared “skinny”, yet on the inside I was on a runaway train heading towards my family history of diabetes, heart disease and stroke.
These habits continued into adulthood and my nursing career. I knew that loads of sugar and fast foods were not ideal, and I knew I was supposed to eat more vegetables. However, willpower and knowledge alone were not enough to change my behavior. The stress of a high-paced critical care nursing job only kept me leaning on food as a temporary comfort to ease the pain.
Through a series of events - having my first child, reading some timely books and a Whole 30 challenge - I began to see that there was a better way. Being deeply entrenched in the healthcare system I trusted the drugs and the policies, and believed that genetics likely determined my destiny. Yet, my new experience was telling a different story. Simple diet and lifestyle changes showed me a path towards a brighter future.
I no longer had to live with abdominal pain or the fear of diabetes or a heart transplant, both of which my father has. I found that food could be my friend and support the health and vitality of my future. By partnering with our God-given foods, reducing toxic exposure, practicing mindfulness and other gut healing modalities, I am now able to fully engage in life and role model health to my family. I started setting my kids on a path towards a bright future that we are still on today.
It wasn’t until I transitioned to working as a nurse in the emergency room that I recognized this wasn’t a solution only for my family. It was something I needed to share with the world. In the ER I saw countless patients come in with vague symptoms like belly pain, tingling, headaches, shortness of breath, anxiety and more. Many of these visits resulted in "normal labs" and the reassurance that “everything was fine". But it wasn’t.
At the same time I was also hearing from friends and family about their struggles with weight gain, brain fog, low energy and depression which their doctors told them was just "a normal part of aging". But it isn’t.
Have you been told that your brain fog and low energy are just a normal part of aging? Are you expecting to gain 3 pounds per year for the next decade because you are over 40? Are you waiting for the day when you will get a diagnosis of diabetes or heart disease because your parents or grandparents had it? What if life wasn’t designed to be this way? What if there is a better way?

"I look and feel better than I have in years! I signed up for the food challenge because I needed a reset. The changes were easy to implement and I didn’t feel restricted. By the end I developed new eating habits that have stuck with me even several months later.”
"What I have learned most in the past several months has been around incorporating self love and focus on myself. While I went in to this with more health related focuses, I've learned how much this is impacting me in more ways than one. I have also loved that by investing in myself, I'm investing in my family and it's having a positive trickle down effect.
"I felt empowered to make this my journey every step of the way,"
I'm a 48-year-old woman who has battled being overweight all of my life. It almost feels traumatic to talk about. My experience with Courtney has been different than any other I have ever had when discussing how to tackle health with doctors, personal trainers, nutritionists, you name it. She was patient. She listened. And she always made me feel like I could find a way, even though I have walked a long road that has yet to lead to one.
In this journey with Courtney I have already lost 23 lbs, gained the motivation to exercise 4-5 days per week and I'm looking forward to rechecking my labs in a few weeks!
I felt empowered to make this my journey every step of the way, with her reminding me of my own commitments to myself. I have a clearer headspace and mindset two months into this than I have ever had. It's been a slower on-ramp, which for me has been a very different experience. But this approach has caused me to think, consider and process differently, and I feel ready to tackle things in a new and fresh way.
I'm very grateful for Courtney's patience more than anything. She is honest and direct, but always makes it known it is my journey, my choices, my road - and she is here to support. I am confident in a new way that I can find my way to healthier living through small intentional steps, one day at a time. I'm excited for the journey ahead.
"In less than three months, I have my energy back, my skin is healthier than ever and I have lost 18 pounds!"
Prior to working with Courtney, I was not feeling like my best self. I had some medical diagnoses that left me feeling like I was aging quickly, had little energy, and had gained unwanted pounds.
Courtney gave me the motivation I needed to make changes. She taught me what my body needs to thrive and heal itself in a way that was fun and easy to understand. Courtney provided the latest research to support what she was teaching.
I cannot recommend Courtney enough for anyone who wants to improve their health and feel amazing. In less than three months, I have my energy back, my skin is healthier than ever and I have lost 18 pounds! I developed a love of learning about how food impacts my body/quality of life and cooking! I look forward to grocery shopping and meal prepping each week. It is not just my eating habits that have changed, it is my mind and spirit as well. I now have a healthy work life balance and my home is a peaceful and stress free place, as the habits I learned about a healthy body have spilled over into other areas of my life.
I am grateful for Courtney and how she helped me become a better version of myself.
